Beatson Cancer Charity Raises £6.5 Million in Two Years
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates everyone connected with the Beatson Cancer Charity, which, it understands is the leading such charity in Glasgow, on reports that it has raised £6.5 million in its first two years; considers this a significant sum; understands that it has helped pay for staff, equipment, research and complementary therapies for patients as well as the Specialist Health and Work Service, which provides much-needed support to people to help them to continue to work during and after treatment, but believes that, although the impact of all of this has been positive, with an estimated 14,467 new cases registered in the west of Scotland every year, there is a long way to go in dealing with cancer.
