Centenary of the Death of Michael Davitt
The motion
That the Parliament hails the enormous contribution of Michael Davitt to land reform in his native Ireland; notes the great acclaim with which he was greeted during his visit to Scotland in 1887 to pledge support for Scottish crofters in their struggle for land reform; congratulates the organisers of recent events in Portree to commemorate Davitt’s visit and the centenary of his death, and believes that the Scottish Executive and the Parliament together must ensure that land reform continues to be on our agenda.
