Ruth Stark MBE
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Ruth Stark, manager of the Scottish Association of Social Workers, which is part of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW), on being appointed MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for her services to social work; understands that Ruth has led BASW’s activities in Scotland since 1999, part of a 40-year career in the profession in which she moved from working as a probation officer to practising as a social worker in Edinburgh, and considers that, throughout her career, Ruth has been at the forefront of the ongoing campaign to ensure that the extremely valuable contribution made by social workers to society is appropriately appreciated and rewarded.
