The motion

That the Parliament recognises the work of the charity, Irvine and Troon Cancer Care, a voluntary organisation offering information and support to cancer patients and their families, which provides a patient transport service manned by volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles to take patients to hospitals and clinics in Glasgow and throughout Ayrshire; notes that patients are collected from their homes and taken to hospital and then home again after treatment; understands that, in 2012, the charity made 1,462 journeys covering 105,084 miles and taking patients to 2,953 appointments; considers that, for anxious and unwell patients, this service is vital, providing a safe, reliable and convenient service; believes that, at such a stressful time in the patients' lives, it must be wonderful to know that there are local people willing to go to such lengths to help, and notes that the charity receives no NHS or government support and relies entirely on the commitment, dedication and kindness of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
