Grant Success for Wigtownshire Women’s Aid
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Wigtownshire Women’s Aid on receiving a £402,344 Investing in Communities, Becoming a Survivor grant; understands that this will fund three new Refuge Worker posts, which will provide an enhanced refuge and advisory service for a minimum of 60 women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse in the Wigtownshire area; notes that the new staff will work alongside existing staff to provide additional evening and weekend support in a new purpose-built refuge containing eight self-contained flats; considers that the work undertaken by Wigtownshire Women’s Aid is of enormous value, and wishes Hazel Maider and her staff every success for the future.
