The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Leith School of Art on its 25th anniversary; understands that it enjoys both a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence for the teaching of art and that its range of its work extends from a foundation course, which has been the first step toward many flourishing careers, to an outreach programme that offers tuition for people in Leith who otherwise would have little access to art education, including unemployed and disabled people; pays tribute to  the work of the 30 staff who attend to the 300 students who pass through its doors each week; commends the school on its ambition to expand and to develop more courses, especially for postgraduates, and wishes the school success with its anniversary alumni exhibition at the Dovecot Studios from 2 to 31 May 2014, which will showcase work by leading former students, including the Becks Futures winner, Toby Paterson, the BP Portrait Young Artist award winner, Owen Normand, the textile artist, Jane Keith, and the award winning filmmaker, Jamie Stone.
