Shelter Campaign on Illegal Evictions
The motion
That the Parliament commends Shelter Scotland’s awareness campaign, Illegal Evictions: Know Your Rights, which was launched on 13 October 2014; encourages tenants to be aware of their rights and landlords of their responsibilities; notes that it is a criminal offence to illegally evict tenants; supports the involvement of Police Scotland and Crimestoppers in helping tenants to report and resolve illegal evictions; notes that tenants can be made homeless by criminal landlords, and supports this Scotland-wide campaign to raise awareness that illegal evictions should be reported to the police.
