Motion · S4M-11375 · 30 Oct 2014
Book Week Scotland 2014
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 24 to 30 November 2014 marks the third annual Book Week Scotland and that this year’s theme is Love and Libraries; welcomes what it believes will be the heightened interest that libraries will receive from the communities that they serve; notes that five select libraries, including Lennoxtown Library, will receive a piece of especially commissioned art to commemorate the event; applauds the involvement of the artists involved with this; commends Book Week Scotland on the various regional events that are planned; believes that these will encompass cultural aspects and will include Gaelic speakers, history discussions and music, and wishes Book Week Scotland success in meeting or even exceeding 2013's success, which saw 300,000 books being given to primary one pupils, which is equivalent to three books for every child.
