The motion

That the Parliament recognises To Absent Friends Week, which runs from 1 to 7 November 2014; understands that this is a people's festival of storytelling and remembrance that is supported and promoted through high profile events and partnerships, including with Falkirk FC; recognises that the week aims to give people an opportunity to remember loved ones who have died by telling stories and reminiscing about them; further understands that it aims to revive lost Scottish traditions and to develop new ones; notes that the festival is influenced by the Day of the Dead, which takes place in Mexico; understands that a wide variety of events will take place in public spaces across the country, through social media and among friends and families and that these are not bound by particular times or venues, and wishes the organisers all the best in their endeavours.
