The motion

That the Parliament praises all of the winners at the recent European Rowing Championships, which were held in Poznan, Poland; notes that Imogen Walsh from Inverness collected gold in the lightweight women’s scull in what it believes was a thrilling final in which she defeated Emma Fredh from Sweden; believes that Imogen’s golden success is even more remarkable as she only recently switched from doubles to the lightweight singles; notes that Heather Stanning from Lossiemouth won gold in the women’s pairs with her teammate, Helen Glover, in a European-best time; congratulates both Imogen and Heather on what it considers their fantastic victories; commends the support from their families, friends and coaches that it believes has helped bring about their success, and hopes that these gold medal performances will encourage other people in the Highlands and Islands and across Scotland to become more involved in rowing.
