The motion

That the Parliament notes that 18 July 2015 is Nelson Mandela Day; understands that overarching objective of the day is to inspire people to take action to help change the world for the better and build a global movement for good; notes that ACTSA Scotland has organised a book appeal in Glasgow; understands that this has the support of Glasgow Libraries, which has organised drop-off points at seven libraries, including the Mitchell Library, and appeal by school librarians in 12 of Glasgow's secondary schools; further notes that the Scottish Trades Union Centre has appealed to trades unionists to donate books at its headquarters; understands that the Lord Provost of Glasgow will send a container of books to South Africa and host a reception at the City Chambers to celebrate the day, and highlights that, as part of the Festival of Politics, there will be an exhibition of the anti-apartheid materials at the Parliament in August.
