West Highland College
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates everyone at West Highland College on what it sees as the success that it has achieved since it was established following the merger of Lochaber and Skye and Wester Ross colleges in 2010; understands that it has increased student numbers on its further education (FE) courses by 40.1% and on its higher education courses by 540%; recognises that it offers local access to six HNC and HND programmes, 34 degree courses and three postgraduate awards in the Lochaber, Skye and Wester Ross region; believes that these courses support all of the key local economic growth areas; welcomes the recent Scottish Funding Council FE performance indicators, which, it understands, confirm that the college was the highest performing in Scotland for FE student success in 2013-14 and had a student satisfaction rate of 97%, and wishes the college and its staff every success in the future.
