Direct Flight Routes between Glasgow and Barbados
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the introduction of direct flight routes between Glasgow and Barbados; recognises the importance of what it considers the historic, cultural and business links between Scotland and Barbados; notes that the new connection from Glasgow Airport has been launched by Thomas Cook Airlines and will run initially between 8 November 2015 and 3 January 2016; considers that the new service will assist in developing links between Scotland and the Caribbean and help to enhance tourism and investment; understands that the new route has been introduced as a result of increasing demand for direct long haul flights from Glasgow Airport; looks forward to the further development of the service between Barbados and Scotland; considers that the new route consolidates Glasgow Airport’s position as one of the fastest growing airports in Europe, and wishes the airport continued success in attracting further direct connections for long haul flights to worldwide destinations.
