The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Good Morning Service on its recent AGM; notes that the Good Morning Service runs in the Glasgow City and South Ayrshire Council areas and aims to support older people through a telephone befriending and alert service; further notes that befrienders call members each morning and provide emotional support, as well as alerting a nominated contact person or Police Scotland if they fail to answer their phone; understands that the Good Morning Service made over 52,000 phone calls to members in 2015; considers that this service enables older people to be and feel more connected, safer, more valued and able to retain their independence, and commends the staff and volunteers for all that they do to help members lead more fulfilling and happy lives.
