Young Adult Carers Supported
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the first Young Adult Carer Showcase and Learning Exchange, an event hosted by Carers Trust Scotland on 26 January 2016 at the Glasgow Science Centre; recognises the important unpaid caring responsibilities that some young people have for a family member or friend who is disabled or has a mental illness or addiction problem in Dunfermline and across Scotland; appreciates that it has been one year since the launch of Time to be Heard for Young Adult Carers, the national campaign initiative in Scotland; notes that young adult carers are not always recognised by education, health and social care professionals as undertaking a caring role; further understands that young adult carers can greatly benefit from dedicated support services, and believes that appropriate services and support should be provided to ensure that carers' physical and mental health and wellbeing are maintained so that they can achieve their true potential in all aspects of their lives.
