The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Motherwell, Wishaw and Shotts Community Policing Team on what it considers its successful implementation of the You’re Asking for It initiative; applauds the initiative, which focuses on removing the risk of harm in local communities and having a positive impact on antisocial behaviour, violence and disorder; understands that this initiative was piloted by the Scottish Government Alcohol Industry Partnership, a partnership between the Scottish Government and the drinks industry, between April and October 2015 and also focused at reducing the sale of alcohol to children by proxy purchase; applauds the local team in its initiative, which identified 88 licensing offences, 49 of which involved adults being reported for buying alcohol for children; welcomes the initiative across the country, which it understands has been shortlisted for the category “Greatest contribution to policing policies” at the Police Scotland Excellence Awards, and wishes the Motherwell, Wishaw and Shotts Community Policing Team the very best in its future initiatives.
