World AIDS Day 2005: Red Ribbon
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 1 December 2005 marks World AIDS Day, the international day of action on HIV and AIDS which takes place every year; recognises that last year in the United Kingdom over 8,000 people were infected by HIV/AIDS, while worldwide over 4.9 million people were newly infected, and welcomes the fact that this year World AIDS Day is about wearing the Red Ribbon as a sign of support for people living with HIV and a symbol of hope for the future, and notes that by getting people involved, more people will be aware of the dangers and facts of the disease and will take measures to reduce the risk of infection.
