The motion

That the Parliament notes that 15 to 27 November 2013 marks the first annual Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) week; is aware that the RHET, whose motto is “taking the classroom to the countryside”, will host events across Scotland during this week, details of which can be found at www.rhet.org.uk; understands that the trust arranged 774 farm visits and 1,056 classroom speakers in the last academic year in order to build bridges between farmers, producers and young people and to increase awareness and understanding of the countryside; believes that the trust is currently in contact with one in eight children in Scotland, with the aim of reaching a target of one in four by 2020; commends the RHET for what it considers the very important and positive work that it undertakes, and wishes the RHET every success in the future as it seeks to attract new volunteers and raise funds so that it can expand its activities.
