Motion · S4M-10154 · 28 May 2014
Glasgow School of Art
The motion
That the Parliament expresses its sorrow over the recent fire at the Glasgow School of Art, which tragically destroyed the school’s iconic library; acknowledges that, without the careful and courageous efforts of the fire service, the damage could have been even greater; sympathises with all those affected, principally the staff, students and people of Glasgow who hold the Macintosh building close to their hearts; welcomes the commitment from the UK Government to make a significant financial contribution toward the cost of restoring “the Mac”; further welcomes the assistance pledged by the Scottish Government, including the Phoenix Scholarships, and looks forward to the Glasgow School of Art being restored to its former glory.
