The motion

That the Parliament expresses its sadness at the recent passing of the musician and composer, John Symon Asher “Jack” Bruce, who was born in Bishopbriggs; notes that Jack Bruce is perhaps best known as bassist of the legendary British supergroup, Cream, which also included Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker and which is considered as one of the best bands in rock history; is aware that Cream sold 35 million albums in just over two years and was given the first ever platinum disc for Wheels of Fire; notes that Jack Bruce wrote and sang most of the songs, including I Feel Free and Sunshine of Your Love; is further aware that he is considered by many as one of the greatest bass players of all time; notes that Jack Bruce’s musical career spanned several decades; is proud of the fact that a Scots-born musician, working with other UK colleagues, achieved so much internationally, and considers that Jack Bruce will be remembered as one of the most important figures and biggest influences in the development of rock history.
