Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team on being awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS); understands that the QAVS is the highest form of award for local volunteer groups and is the equivalent of an MBE; appreciates that the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was set up in the late 1960s by local climbers and is currently made of up around 40 men and women volunteers; understands that the team works with the local police to assist and attend incidents where normal emergency services are unable to operate and that it covers the Lochaber district, which includes the Small Isles and Knoydart; congratulates all the past and present volunteers who have worked hard to assist climbers and walkers in Lochaber, and believes that this award is deserved recognition of their many years of voluntary service.
