Let's Talk About Dementia

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that Alzheimer Scotland’s annual Dementia Awareness Week runs from 2 to 8 June 2014; understands that the theme for this year will be Let’s Talk About Dementia, encouraging people from all walks of life to talk about the condition to remove the stigma around dementia; notes that the theme of Alzheimer Scotland’s annual conference during Dementia Awareness Week is Innovation, Research and Technology in Dementia and will be held on 6 June 2014, covering topics including innovations in policy and practice, assistive technologies and the ethics of technology in dementia care; welcomes what it considers the extensive range of events being held across Scotland to engage with members of the public and provide further information about the condition; recognises that MSPs can play an active role in raising awareness in their constituencies and regions to promote awareness of dementia and to start the conversation in their local area; notes the list of events set out on Alzheimer Scotland’s website; further understands that Alzheimer Scotland branches and dementia resource centres can provide promotional materials and resources to display to help raise awareness, and congratulates Alzheimer Scotland on its important campaign work.
