Starter Packs Inverclyde
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work of Starter Packs Inverclyde in Greenock, a registered charity that involves 20 local churches; commends the charity’s aim to help eliminate some of the problems that people encounter in the initial stages of setting up home after a period of homelessness by providing a starter pack of essential household items; notes that the charity was established as a direct response to the problems faced by homeless people who are offered a tenancy but lack sufficient means to purchase the many small household items needed to set up and maintain a home; further notes that church representatives set up a collection point in their churches where good quality secondhand or new items can be donated and then arrange transfer of donated items to the Starter Packs Inverclyde depot in Greenock, where volunteers sort the items and make up the various packs, which are then distributed by recognised agencies; congratulates the staff, volunteers and donors on their work, and wishes the charity every success.
